History
The former Nagoya Ferry Berth Corporation was established in 1971, funded entirely by the Nagoya Port Authority with the aim of constructing, managing and operating its own ferry terminal.
Because of the rapid increase in container cargo in recent years, enhancement of foreign-trade container terminals has become an urgent issue. In order to achieve this development under a new public corporation format, the Nagoya Port Terminal Public Corporation was organized in 1993, adding international container terminal operations to the existing business activities of the Nagoya Ferry Berth Corporation. This has put the Nagoya Container Terminal Pubic Corporation in charge of construction, management and operation of its international container terminals as well as the ferry terminal at the Port of Nagoya.
Business
Activities
Through such activities as construction, leasing, improvement, maintenance and disaster-relief operations at the international container terminal and ferry terminal at the Port of Nagoya, the Nagoya Port Terminal Public Corporation strives to strengthen the functions of the Port, facilitate international trade, develop the regional economy, and create marine environment for local communities.
Funding
Funds required for terminal construction and improvements are procured from the national government and the Nagoya Port Authority in the forms of interest-free loans, special subletting loans, and loans from private financing institutions. These loans are repaid through the collection of terminal leasing fees. |
